Just growing with the flow,
Exploring through times, head to toe.

My name is Revati and I’m a professional dancer, choreographer, teacher, movement artist and a certified yoga trainer who did her Bachelors in commerce and business but held onto her childhood passion of dancing. I have trained in various styles and techniques like classical contemporary, modern, street jazz, jazz, hip-hop, ballet and I feel being an Indian, Bollywood just comes naturally.
In this past decade of working in the performing arts professionally, which started with being a certified trainer at the Danceworx (2010-2013), I have had an extremely fruitful and thriving journey filled with learning’s and new experiences. I did my graduation from  Lady Shri Ram College for Women where alongside studying business, my passion for dance broadened to organizing festivals, putting up productions from end-to-end, leading teams, performing on stage and creating and growing closely with some beautiful women. While I was leading my college team, a chance encounter set the path for what was to follow. I had set my mind at taking dancing as a career path and I joined Ryan Martyr’s all girls dance crew “No One” where we had regular intensive dance training, holistic development, jamming sessions, studio performances and more.

Apart from that, I have performed for dance shows like Ten Heads Festival, Chrysalis, Parallel Conversation, danced and choreographed for commercials like subway, Raymonds, a series on Discovery kids, clothing brand named Ekaya Banaras, choreographed for Netflix series named Sacred Games season 2 and a Bollywood feature film named ‘Sharmaji Namkeen’. Performing and choreographing whether it’s on-stage or on-screen, really interests me.

Working with American Embassy School, New Delhi I put up three theme-based dance productions, various dance performances, directed and choreographed numerous dance videos with students and enjoyed bringing together various dance styles and cultures in one classroom for four years (2017-2020). I’m elated by the journey dance can take you through and I have found great satisfaction in seeing my students grow as dancers and people. Through this institution I had the pleasure of interacting with internationally acclaimed artists at events around the world and leading dance trips to London which comprised of classes in a different dance style with a different teacher each day and watching shows like 42 nd Street, Remembrance at the Peacock Theatre, Heartbeat of Home, Come From Away, The Lion King and more.
Travelling is something I enjoy and I look for opportunities where I can learn and gain skills in the process. I’ve done a month long contemporary dance program at the prestigious Gibney Contemporary Dance Company in NY (July’18), attended dance camps around India, did a short Aerial Dance Course at the LRDA (Les Rencontres de Danse Aerienne) festival in Saint Nazaire, France (July’19).

Bringing together my love to work with young minds around the world, travelling and creating something new, I got the perfect opportunity where I would be working with the International School Theater Association as an artist. Movement, dance, fitness keeps me going and I havediscovered a lot of myself through it. I did a RYT200- certified yoga teacher training course from Yog Peeth, Rishikesh, India (June’19). It has helped me understand my body, mind and my inner self, better. This also led me to exploring more and I did a training course in Animal Flow in July’21 and got certified as a L1 certified Animal Flow Instructor. I really enjoy sharing and teaching whatever I know from this vast array of knowledge that is open to us. Whether it has been getting corporates off their desk to shake a leg or taking dance workshops for people wanting to train or its teaching all those seasonal dancers who come out during wedding season. Whether you’re Indian or not, you know how big Indian weddings can be and I enjoy choreographing the bride and grooms first dance, all the aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family. It’s filled with emotions, fun, excitement, stories, themes and a lot of drama.

Each day, be it in school, at a wedding, on stage or in a studio, I am grateful for the rhythm I feel in my bones. I am constantly reassured that this is exactly what I am meant to do and am grateful for all that dance and movement bring my way.
